After School Club
Black History Month
at the Park Early Birds and Park ‘n’ Play Clubs
This month both Breakfast and Afterschool Clubs will be putting on a range of activities to highlight the positive contributions made by people of colour down through the centuries.
Did you know that the traffic light system was devised and patented in 1923 by an African American named Garrett Augustus Morgan? This is just one of the gems we will be exploring over the month. There will also be food tasting, creative activities and cooking.

The Park Primary runs an after school club (Park ‘n’ Play) 5 days per week which can be attended by all full-time pupils at the school. It operates from 3.15- 6pm. Run from the Elliott Buildings up by our playing fields it’s a great place for the children to be in the safety of the school grounds whilst not ‘feeling’ like they are at school.
The club is run by two After School Club Assistants and the children have a variety of activities to keep them busy ranging from arts and crafts, board games and the quiet corner to electronic games and games on the field. Snack time consists of a snack, fruit and a drink.
Parents are welcome to use the club for drop-in care if a space is available on the day.
