Remote Education
At The Park and Parkwall Primary School Federation, we recognise that attending school in person is essential for children’s learning, progress, wellbeing and social development. We believe that children learn best when they are in school, supported by their teachers and alongside their peers. Remote education will therefore only be considered as a last resort when attendance at school is not possible
When Will Remote Education Be Provided?
In line with Department for Education guidance, remote education may be provided in the following circumstances:
- School closures or restrictions on attendance: Where the school is unable to open safely or attendance is restricted due to exceptional circumstances, such as public health or safety concerns.
- Individual circumstances: Where a child is temporarily unable to attend school, for example, while recovering from an injury or surgery, provided they are well enough to engage in learning and remote education is appropriate.

Our Remote Education Offer
Where remote education is necessary, we will aim to ensure that children continue to access meaningful, high-quality learning.
Our provision will:
- Reflect, as closely as reasonably possible, the curriculum being taught in school.
- Include a range of subjects and learning activities appropriate to children’s ages, abilities and individual needs.
- Provide clear instructions and accessible learning activities.
- Offer appropriate feedback and opportunities for communication with class teachers.
- Support children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) through reasonable adjustments where appropriate.

Supporting Families
We recognise that every family’s circumstances are different and that remote education can present additional challenges.
Where children do not have suitable access to digital devices or the internet, we will consider alternative arrangements, including printed learning materials.
We will also be mindful of screen time, provide reasonable flexibility for parents and carers, and offer support where needed.
Communication and Keeping in Touch
We are committed to maintaining positive relationships with children and families when remote education is required.
Parents and carers will be informed about the arrangements for accessing learning, expectations and how to contact the school for support.
Our priority is always to support children to return to school as soon as it is safe and appropriate to do so. Remote education is intended to provide continuity of learning during exceptional circumstances and is not a replacement for regular school attendance.
