Active Travel
At The Park Primary School, we are committed to encouraging pupils and families to make healthier, safer and more sustainable journeys to and from school. Through our involvement with WOW Active Travel and Modeshift STARS, we have promoted walking, wheeling, cycling and scooting as part of everyday school life. This work has helped to support safer travel to school by increasing awareness of road safety, reducing reliance on cars around the school gates and promoting more responsible travel choices.
Fewer car journeys also mean reduced traffic flow and contribute to cleaner air around our school community, supporting the health and wellbeing of our pupils and families. Importantly, this work also helps us develop children as globally aspirational citizens, encouraging them to understand how their everyday choices can have a positive impact on their community and the wider environment. As a result, we have seen a noticeable increase in active travel and are proud to have achieved Excellent accreditation this year, as well as being one of just 208 schools nominated for the regional awards across the country.
