Summer Reading Challenge

Help your child keep their reading skills during the summer!

It’s easier than you think, just visit your library with your child this summer and join in The Big Friendly Read!   All they have to do is read six library books of their choice over the summer, gathering special Big Friendly Read collector cards from some of Roald Dahl’s best-loved stories along the way, to get their medal and certificate.

More than 6,700 children took part in Record Breakers last summer, including 102 children from The Park School.  A parent of children who did it said “My three children loved the reading challenge. I think it is a fantastic idea and gets kids reading through the summer.”

The Big Friendly Read, Summer Reading Challenge 2016 begins in all South Gloucestershire Libraries on 16 July and runs until 10 September.  It’s fun, it’s friendly and best of all, it’s totally FREE.

Libraries are also holding funbursting free activities throughout the holiday to help children complete the challenge.
