School Dinners

We encourage all pupils to eat healthily and a school lunch provides our pupils with a hot, nutritional meal.

Universal Free School Meal – KS1

From September 2014, the Government now provides a free hot lunchtime meal for all pupils from Reception up to Year 2.

For KS2 pupils ie Years 3-6, the cost of a hot school meal is currently £2.30

Income Related Free School Meal – KS1 & KS2

Not to be confused with the government funded free lunch for KS1 pupils, any family in receipt of certain income related benefits will be entitled to a free school meal as well as other assistance, whether in KS1 or KS2.

To claim this additional help, you must be in receipt of one of the benefits listed below AND have notified us of that fact.

  • Income Support
  • Employment Support Allowance (Income-related)
  • Income-based Job Seekers
  • Child Tax Credit, but are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and your annual income (as assessed by HM Revenue & Customs) does not exceed £16,190.00
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The ‘Guaranteed Element’ of Pension Credit

Once registered with us, all pupils entitled to income related free school meals will also be entitled to free entry and free breakfast at the Breakfast Club run by the school.

From April 2016, South Gloucestershire council traded services department will commence trading under the company name of Integra.  Integra are now only responsible for the provision of the school meals not for the collection of monies.

The changes mean that Park Primary school is now fully responsible for collection of dinner money and any debts in respect of dinners will have to be funded from the schools educational budget thus reducing the amount available for educating our pupils.  This is a serious responsibility and one which we will be managing very closely.
