Safeguarding children – the action we take to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm – is everyone’s responsibility.

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined in Government guidance as:

  • protecting children from maltreatment;
  • preventing impairment of children’s health or development;
  • ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
  • taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.

At The Park safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and one which the staff and governors take very seriously. Everyone who comes into contact with children and families has a role to play. All staff have regular safeguarding training. Our designated Child Protection Officers are:

Lizzy Meadows –Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

Barrie Suthern – Deputy

Paul Rowsell – Deputy

Kim Rodgers – Safeguarding Officer

Safeguarding Issues

We have a duty of care to ensure the safety of pupils on the premises and our decisions are taken with this in mind.  Parents should be aware that:

  • Pupils are not allowed on site unattended before 8.30am
  • Any pupil on site before this time must attend the breakfast club for which there is a charge
  • Parents will be contacted in the event of pupils being on site but not attending the club
  • Pupils registering at the breakfast club cannot leave to an unsupervised area of the school
  • All parents and pupils should leave site promptly after 3.15pm unless attending an afterschool activity
  • At the end of the day, gates around the premises will be locked at 4.30pm to ensure the safety of the afterschool club pupils
