Charity Leadership Team

The Charity Leadership team are a group that will promote fund raising and charity events at our school. Together, they will decide which national and local events we will support and how we will support them. They will also be responsible for helping each year group decide which events they will hold to raise money. They will support with advertising and the actual events.

So far this year they have helped promote Children in Need day by deciding that the school should dress up for the day. They helped make and display posters to advertise the event and did a fabulous job collecting the money from classes. They helped year one and three sell cakes during playtime and were responsible for thanking their year group and informing them about how much was raised.

2016-17

foodbank-logoWelcome to our new school year. We look forward to busy year thinking of others and having fun while supporting the work of charities.

Our first event will be a collection of tins and packets of food to support the East Bristol food bank.  We will give thanks for these at our Harvest assembly on Monday 3rd October.

clic-logoOur chosen charity this year is CLIC. Year groups will be organising their own fund raising events to support this charity. We have chosen this charity because of the effect of the illness on a member of our school community.

cin-countryfileOn 8th October we are taking part in the BBC Countryfile ‘Children in Need Ramble’ so join us for a walk along the Cotswolds Way from Swineford to Kelston.

We will also be supporting Tear Fund and will keep you informed about events nearer the time.

Our Report

The charity team have been busy all year helping year groups to organise and publicise their charity events.

We started the year with a collection for the East Bristol Food Bank which was collected at our harvest assembly. We collected more than in previous years which was fantastic.  Our next event was a biscuit sale by reception to raise money for Cancer Research.

Our next event was Children in Need day. We all dressed up and year one made and sold cakes which were delicious.

Year two held a Bedtime story event for Cancer Research and everyone had fun dressed up in pyjamas and listening to stories after a delicious cup of hot chocolate and biscuits.

Year three supported the food bank by taking more food donations and finding out what the charity does.

Year five used Sport Relief for their fund raising and had an amazing day of non-stop sport and action. The whole school dressed up in sports kit and participated in a whole school Wake and Shake and other activities with their classes and year groups.

Our Rainbow Run in June was fantastic. We had fun getting fit, getting covered in paint and raising money for Cancer Research.

The last event of the year was the collection of clothes for the Chernobyl Children’s Life Line.

As well as having fun by raising lots of money and supporting charities with other types of donations we have learned how to think of others and how even the smallest things can make a big difference.

Thank you to everyone who supports us with all these events.
